Spaced Repetition — Never Forget What You've Memorized

The biggest challenge for any hafiz isn't memorizing — it's retaining. Tathbeet Al-Hifz uses the FSRS algorithm (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) to schedule your reviews at the scientifically optimal moment. You're given a starting ayah, recite from there along with the verses that follow, then rate how well it went. Passages you recite well come back less frequently. Those you struggle with come back sooner. Maximum retention, minimum effort.

How Spaced Repetition Works for Your Hifz

You're shown a starting ayah — recite from there and continue with the following verses, then rate your performance honestly. The algorithm calculates exactly when that starting ayah should come back as a prompt — not too soon, not too late.

🟢
Mastered

You recited flawlessly from the starting ayah onward. This prompt graduates from the spaced repetition system — you've proven your mastery, no more scheduled reviews needed.

→ Graduated ✓
🟡
Hesitant

Slight hesitation, but you got through it. The starting ayah returns after a moderate interval to solidify your recall.

→ Medium interval
🟠
Difficult

You struggled but managed to continue. This starting ayah needs more work — it comes back with a shorter interval.

→ Short interval
🔴
Blocked

You couldn't recall what comes next. This starting ayah comes back very soon — your Hifz for this passage needs immediate reinforcement.

→ Comes back soon

Over time, the passages you recite well will be reviewed less and less often, while the ones you struggle with stay close. The algorithm adapts to your real performance — your review schedule is unique to you, optimized by science.

A Smart Algorithm at the Service of Your Hifz

Unlike other apps that pick verses purely at random — risking entire pages being skipped — Tathbeet Al-Hifz guarantees that every single page in your review range is covered. One random ayah is drawn from each page, then the order is shuffled. The result: a complete and unpredictable review that truly tests your memorization.
